Cartesi is created to register some off-chain transaction. The other layer is scalability trilemma that can increase the transaction without limit the security blockchain. There will be no limit in decentralization. Cartesi offers high node to operate the cost that has power in some user. There is also fragmenting consensus to make the user get fifty-one percent attacks.
3. Cartesi machine technology
How Cartesi machine formed? Cartesi machine is formed by a deterministic computation model and self-contained. It can host the modern operating system. There is a good reason for real-world computation. The developer can try to use the toolchain to operate the abstraction level of the job. It isolates them from bad hardware and a specific operating system. Inventing architecture will require operating system and toolchain. An architecture that has a standard operating system and toolchain is available on Cartesi machine.
There are two Cartesi machines. The first is aboard, the second is the processor. The board has surround environment with an assortment of memories such as flash, ROM, and RAM. It is different from processor performs. It executes the traditional fetch execute when maintaining many kinds of register. The verification is possible to do because Cartesi machine makes map all state to physical memory on well-defined way. It includes all attached device, internal states, board, and processor. The modification of Cartesi machine will not reduce the operating system in many ways.
All off-chain computation has to verify by Cartesi machine. Blockchain should host reference for architecture. When it is trusted, the implementation is easy to audit. There is standard privilege architecture with a feature that used by a modern operating system like traps, exception, timers, interrupts, virtual memory, privilege levels and page.
RISC-V is appearing from the research of students in Berkeley. RISC-V maintain the independent foundation. A big company like Tesla, Google, and Samsung join in the project. This platform is very supported by the community developer. They have the effort to create extensive software infrastructure. It is not a toy architecture. RISC-V is recommended for direct native hardware implementation that included some system. It means that Cartesi will not reduce the binary translation or emulation off-chain.
RISC-V is requirement point to architecture and implementation. It is based on the 32-bit instruction set that has several extensions. It can be added. Address space and operand can extend around 64 bit. It is standard defines a privileged architecture with some features by a modern operating system like paged based and many privilege level.
